Setting Your Personal Goals for the New Year

setting personal goalsHave you considered setting personal goals for the New Year?

Setting goals is an effective way to improve your life by making it healthier, happier, and more fulfilling.

According to Psychology Today, it’s important to remember the following when setting your goals.

  • Be specific.
  • Be realistic.
  • Be positive.

Get started today with these fun and easy ways to enrich your life in 2015.

Eat Great Food–Eating is a necessity, but here at Dressler’s, we deeply believe that it is also one of life’s greatest pleasures. Make every bite count. Try new foods. Experiment with new flavors and textures. Make an effort to know where your food comes from and purchase food that is grown locally. Make every meal an experience to be savored. Learn how to prepare healthy, delicious food that your family will truly enjoy eating. Teach children the importance of good nutrition and the wonders of delicious food.

Get Moving–Move more and sit less. It’s just that simple. Join the YMCA. Go for a walk on one of Charlotte’s beautiful greenways. Get outside and chase a ball of any shape or size (If kids and dogs can do this just for the fun of it, then you can too). Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Save Money–Learn some new strategies for saving money this year. Read The 25 Best Ways to Improve Your Finances in 2015 and How to Set Your 2015 Money Goals.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy–Life is short, so enjoy today! Focus less on the little inconveniences and annoyances in life and more on what’s really important.

Learn Something New–Every day is an opportunity for personal growth. Learning makes life interesting and meaningful. Learn from your mistakes. Learn a new skill or hobby.

Give Back–Take a moment to be thankful for the blessings in your life, then look around at others who are not as fortunate. You can help by donating some of your blood, time, talents, or money. Give back to your community through a local school, church, hospital, animal shelter, or food pantry. Volunteering is a great way to help others meet some of their personal goals (which you will be surprised to learn are a lot more basic than yours–having enough to eat, warm clothes, and a safe place to sleep.)

Work Hard, Play Harder–When you are at work, devote 100% of yourself to your job. At Dressler’s Restaurants, we live by this maxim: Do what you love and love what you do and your job will never seem like work. Whatever you’re doing, have fun, and a lot of it! This is how we recharge our batteries, so make time for it in your busy schedule.
