Cool Summer Desserts

At Dressler’s Restaurant, we love desserts!

Summer is the perfect time for sweets! They are fun to make and even better to eat.

Stop in to Dressler’s and let us serve you one of our amazing desserts. You can even take our desserts home with you to share with family and friends.

Our selection of sweet treats includes Mom’s New York Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, Apple Cake, Crème Brûlée, Apple Crisp, Chocolate Cake (best served with port wine), and Key Lime Pie.

Some of Dressler’s guests like to drink their desserts! Two of our favorites are an espresso martini and a local vanilla porter beer.

Here are some other traditional summer dessert ideas to make at home for your friends and family.

PARFAIT–Start with creamy layers of yogurt, ice cream, or pudding and fresh fruit. Finish with toppings like nuts, syrup, and whipped cream. Serve in clear glasses or dishes that display the colorful layers.

SORBET–This non-dairy frozen delight is made with puréed fruit, sugar, and water. Wine and/or liqueur may be added for adult versions.

BANANA SPLIT–Split a banana in half. Add vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream.  Drizzle with pineapple, strawberry and chocolate sauces. Top with nuts, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry.

ICE CREAM SUNDAES–Adult and children alike enjoy making their own creations, and the variations are nearly endless. Choose your favorite ice cream, sauce, and toppings. Grab a spoon and dig in!

PIE, TARTS, CRISPS, AND COBBLERS–Enjoy the perfect combination of fresh, seasonal fruit (peaches, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries) and flaky pastry crust.

SHORTCAKES and ANGEL FOOD CAKE–Top these traditional summer cakes with fresh fruit and enjoy!

S’MORES–There is something magical about this treat that brings out the child in all of us. Making them is almost as much fun as eating them.
